Poppy FieldOil, 16 x 20, stretched canvas. I wrestled with this painting. Red and Green are near complementary colors, so I had to push the intensity of the greens down to focus on the intense poppy reds. I left tiny bits of pink and red in the sky on purpose to unify the painting. SOLD at Art at the Mill show 2013 Spring. Study, oil, 8 x 6, on prepared hardwood panel. The painting, Poppy field, is intentionally impressionist, harking back to Monet's poppy fields and I wanted the child in the field to have the same loose impressionist feel. I had to experiment with the colors. The child had to stand out from the colors of the grass but not too much. |
