Southwester (AKA Wendy)

Oil, 40 x 30. This young woman originally posed for the League of Reston Artists' sketch group and I liked this pose so much I asked if she would model for me. The skirt is hers but I asked her to wear the yellow blouse instead of the white she was wearing. The pose is a difficult one to hold, and we took frequent "rests" so she could unbend an arm or leg. I added the pots and bowl of vegs and rubber tree plant as we went along, and, looking at it now, I find too much symmetry in the placement of the four objects. Nevertheless, it's a good painting, one that I treasure. It's still "collection of the artist" but I need to sell it or find a good home for it before I die. I will it to Wendy's mother if not sold.
